Double displacement reaction : The reaction in which there is an exchange of ions between the reactants are called double displacement reaction and example of double displacement reaction is given below –
Calcium chloride + Aluminium sulphate → Calcium sulphate + Aluminium chloride
3CaCl2(aq) + Al2(SO4)3(aq) → 3CaSO4(aq) + 2AICI3 (aq)
Another example of double displacement reaction is given below –
Silver nitrate + Sodium chloride → Silver chloride + Sodium nitrate
AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) → AgCl(s)↓ + NaNO3 (aq)
